The
Weather Channel has estimated about 2.5 inches of snow fell on Kitty Hawk
early on Saturday, January 30. Another inch was forecast for the evening.
By Sunday morning, 4 inches of snow could be measured in Kitty Hawk. Little
traffic was seen on Outer Banks highways Saturday morning as residents
stayed indoors rather than attempt to drive on the snow covered slippery
highways. Local governments have no snow plows and are at the mercy nature
when snow and ice make their rare appearance here...
