“Grassroots for Obama” Hosts Outdoor Music Festival |
Supporters
of Barack Obama’s campaign for President braved overcast skies and
cool temperatures to attend an Outdoor music concert at the OBX “Grassroots
for Obama” Campaign Headquarters at 2701 N Croatan Highway, Kill
Devil Hills on Sunday, April 26. Despite the dampening weather, spirits
were kept high by the festive atmosphere, camaraderie and great music
performed by local musicians Ron Davidson and Monty Hooker. Inside headquarters, teams of operators took turns calling Outer Banks voters with important information about the candidate’s position on the major issues facing Americans in the upcoming election. During a break in the musical performance, Delton Boyd, district coordinator for the Obama Campaign in northeastern North Carolina reported that 2500 contacts with voters had been established, either by telephone or walking door to door by volunteers since the Outer Banks Grassroots office opened its doors on April 13th. Many new volunteers signed up throughout the day and pledged to help in future door to door and phone canvassing. A major canvassing effort is planned for the Manteo area next weekend. Rain began to fall around 5:30 pm, forcing an early end to the day’s events. For more information about “Grassroots for Obama on the Outer Banks, call 252 441 1556. |
