Brent with 1983 BMW R 100 RS, his daily ride
Brent Hollowell lives in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina and probably has the largest collection of BMW motorcycles and parts of anyone in North Carolina. Brent began his association with BMW motorcycles in the late 70's when he was employed as a motorcycle courier in Washington DC. The Company he worked for provided BMW /2 motorcycle's to their couriers. The /2 has a low center of gravity, excellent reliability and was perfect for dodging in and out of traffic on the congested streets of Washington DC.
After his stint as a courier rider, Brent went off to do other things. In 1992, his interest in BMW's started again when he saw a 1968 BMW /2, the same type of BMW bike he rode as a courier, listed for sale in a local news paper.
Brent bought this bike and after a careful restoration, rode the the BMW to the 1993 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. This first beemer led him on a quest that didn't stop until he had collected several of the old machines.
Today, Brent is a member of the Airhead Beemer Club and the Air Marshall of North Carolina. This national Club is dedicated to helping owners of the old Airhead BMW motorcycles keep their bikes on the road. The Club also promotes Rally's and other activities that keep the interest in older BMW's alive. Brent also owns High Country Motorcycle Camp, a motorcycle only campground located in the mountains of western North Carolina. Also see Mid Winter OBX BMW Motorcycle Therapy Session
